The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham is located North of Gatwick Airport a distance of around 33 miles a journey that would take around 50 minutes by taxi via the M23 and A3. It is situated in West London forming a part of inner London and has a population of 182,400 according to 2011 statistics.

The borough was formed in 1965 with the merging of the Metropolitan Borough of Hammersmith and the Metropolitan Borough of Fulham. It was known as the 'London Borough of Hammersmith' until its name was changed on 1 January 1979 by the borough council. Some of the boroughs neighbourhoods include Brook Green, College Park, East Acton, Fulham, Hammersmith, Old Oak Common, Parsons Green, Sands End, Shepherds Bush, Walham Green, West Kensington and White City. There are some contrasting areas in the borough such as affluent neighbourhoods of Fulham, Ravenscourt Park and the Riverside compose of highly expensive Victorian and Edwardian houses which differ to the cheaper house prices of White City and Shepherds Bush.

Some notable places that characterise the borough are the numerous international corporations that have offices in the area, Fulham Football Club, Chelsea Football Club and Queens Park Rangers that are all based in the area. The entertainment venue of Hammersmith Apollo shows comedy and major music concerts and there are four theatres-Riverside Studios, Bush Theatre, the Lyric Hammersmith and Curtains Up. There is excellent access to a number of parks and open spaces covering a total area of 231 hectares such as Bishops Park, Shepherd's Bush Green and Brook Green.
